H1B Work Visa Information & Support
H1B Work Visa General Information:
The H-1B Visa enables professionals in "Specialty Occupations" to make a valuable contribution to the American economy. A maximum of 65,000 H-1B Visas are issued every year. The H-1B Visa is issued for up to three years but may be extended. This provides a maximum stay of six years. The H1-B Visa holder can apply for a Green Card if a company wants to sponsor his or her application.
Green Card:
The United States Permanent Resident Card, commonly known as a Green Card, serves as proof of a person's lawful permanent resident status in the United States. An individual with a Green Card has the right to live and work permanently in the United States. There are various ways to qualify for a Green Card. It is recommended to learn about the different criteria of eligibility for Green Cards and to determine how you can best prepare for your application. The Green Card application process also depends if the applicant is applying from within the United States or from abroad.
H-1B Work Visa Eligibility Requirements:
The H-1B Non-Immigrant Work Visa may be issued to applicants seeking temporary work in a "Specialty Occupation" which requires the skills of a professional. "Specialty Occupations" include: accounting, computer analysts, programmers, database administrators, web designers, engineers, financial analysts, doctors, nurses, scientists, architects and lawyers. The petitions are submitted by employers based on their need for the non-US.-resident employee. H1-B Visa holders must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree. However, requisite experience can substitute for education, depending on the individual case.
First Step for obtaining a H-1B Work Visa: If you can demonstrate a US equivalency to a High School diploma and a Bachelor Degree (12 years of primary and secondary school + 4 year bachelor's degree or 13 years of primary and secondary school + 3 years of university study at a recognized university) your evaluation report can demonstrate that you have the U.S. equivalency of a Bachelor Degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States of America. This will provide the proof you need for an immigration visa.
